Blocky Music is out. It is a rhythm mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge: use the microphone on a player or a mob, pick a beatmap, and the battle begins. Notes fall down four lanes, you hit them in time with the song, and whoever plays better wins. If nobody is around, you can play on your own.
What is in it
- Rhythm battles against players and mobs, or on your own, with modifiers picked before each battle.
- The Workshop right in the game: press Alt+B, listen to a preview and install a beatmap in one click.
- A beatmap and effects editor that starts from scratch or imports osu! and Friday Night Funkin' beatmaps.
- Publishing from the game: your beatmap, song and cover go to the Workshop in a few steps.
- MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A and more: the mod converts songs itself, so you need no FFmpeg.
- Each server keeps its own list of beatmaps and its own comments.
The DJ booth

Not every evening needs a battle. The DJ booth plays music for the whole party: fill the playlist from the Workshop, set the equalizer and the visual effects, put up speakers so the music carries further, and hang cameras your friends can watch through.
Where to get it
Blocky Music is on CurseForge, and the Modrinth page opens once its review is done. Install it on the server and on every player's game, with the same version everywhere. The client also needs playerAnimator; the CurseForge app installs it for you. Beatmaps live in the Workshop, and the source is on GitHub.
Found a bug?
This is a beta, so some things will break. Tell us on the [forum](/forum/c/blocky-music) or in #bugs-suggestions on our Discord: what you did, what you expected, what happened instead, and the game log if it crashed. We fix bugs quickly and ship the fixes in new updates.
What comes next
The next updates make the editor easier to use and fix the bugs you report. Once that is done, Blocky Music leaves beta and gets its full release.
The Workshop is still almost empty, so the beatmaps you publish now will be among the first everyone plays.
